Model 17, which I first produced in 2015 is a copy of the 1940 Hermann Hauser I guitar owned by the Augustine family and played by Julian Bream for many years. I worked on several different instruments for Mr. Bream during 2007, including this original 1940 Hauser, which I studied closely and made a plan of.

I measured the scale length of the original at 653 mm, and since I had already used that string length quite a number of times previously, I had no qualms about using it again for my copies. However, I’ve successfully built 650 mm, 645mm and 640 mm versions too.

The guitar pictured below was made in 2022 for a customer in Singapore. Straight-grained spruce top and Indian rosewood for back and sides with a Cedrela neck. Mother-of-pearl decoration on the bridge like the original, but without the engraving on the tie-block. It has a scale length of 640mm and is fitted with Alessi tuning machines.
